3.  Tony Pulis

When the former Stoke City manager took over at Selhurst Park Palace were bottom of the table and set for another one-season stay in the Barclays Premier League. Since then the Welshman has engineered a revival that includes victories at Everton and a five-match winning streak that has taken them to mid-table. The never-say-die spirit of Palace under Pulis was epitomised in the way they fought back from 3-0 down at home to Liverpool to draw 3-3.

Still bottom with four matches to play a stunning victory at Chelsea started a run of four wins in a row and safety.
